How to keep self from going crazy from boredom on long trip?
I'll be driving 7 1/2 hours, one way, today and am looking for some ideas to keep myself from losing it from boredom. I'm taking a bunch of CDs. Other than that, what would you suggest to help make the time go by? Thanks! This is my first long trip by myself.

- Grab a good map and plot out some stops you'd like to make along the way. You can research the towns/cities online to find what they might have to offer...maybe an amazing antique store, a county fair, an unusual restaurant. Take lots of photos to document your trip...maybe even a journal to record this first adventure alone! Think of it as your own documentary, it's not often you'll be able to go out adventuring alone...enjoy every minute of it! Plan for everything...make sure the cell phone is charged, even possibly purchasing a calling card in case there's no signal and you need to use a pay phone. Pack some bottled waters, snacks, a blanket and a flashlight (check the batteries). You could even check out from the library a book on CD or tape to listen to while on your trip. Have fun!
- Stop about every hour or so to get some fresh air. Maybe a tourist stop of some sort. That gives your eyes a break from the road and you have something to think about till the next stop.
